Wilma Lee Foreman

Wilma “Lee” Foreman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. Born on September 15, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Lee was the daughter of William Rufus and Mildred Samantha (Applegate) Foreman. A proud 1963 graduate of Copan High School, she was honored as the basketball homecoming queen. Lee’s heart for helping others led her to a lifelong career in nursing. Lee married Raymond Replogle in 1965, and together they had a son, Darron, on April 14th, 1966. She earned her nursing degree while living in the Tulsa area and worked for Hillcrest Medical Center. In 1973, she married Gary Mackey, and their son Ryan was born on April 11th, 1977. Later, she moved to Bartlesville and joined Jane Phillips Hospital, and eventually served as a traveling nurse. With unwavering dedication, Lee served as a Registered Nurse for 58 years and was still working full-time as a case manager for the Cherokee Nation’s Will Rogers Clinic in Nowata at the time of her passing. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. Known affectionately as “Grammy” and “Sisi,” Lee cherished every moment with her family—attending sporting and singing events, celebrating birthdays with special luncheons, and offering her endless love and encouragement. She was their biggest cheerleader and strongest supporter. Lee had a vibrant personality and a wide range of passions. She loved Oklahoma City Thunder basketball—celebrating their 2025 championship with pride—and was a lifelong Elvis Presley fan, even seeing him live in concert. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, scuba diving (despite never learning to swim), and playing Pollyanna. A traveler at heart, she especially loved visits to Cherokee, North Carolina (the Homelands), Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Lee’s bold style included a love for the color red and all things leopard print. She was a cat enthusiast who also loved dogs and horses—but absolutely not spiders. A proud matriarch of the Squirrel Ridge Ceremonial Grounds, Lee was deeply connected to Cherokee culture and shook shells in honor of her heritage. Her impact extended beyond her family and work—she was a role model to her siblings, a trusted friend to many, and a light in every room she entered. Lee is survived by her sons: Darron (Jami) Replogle of Catoosa and Ryan “Wahde” (Julie) Mackey of Tahlequah; grandchildren: Ben Replogle, Sam Replogle, and Sarah Replogle of Catoosa; Agalisiga (Paloma) Mackey of Tahlequah; and Conlee Catron of Stilwell; great-grandchildren: Adawelagia and Itztli Mackey-Lopez of Tahlequah. She is also survived by her siblings: Margie Swanson and Sheryl Foreman of Dewey, Belva (Lawrence) Steiner of Pryor, and Tom (Lisa) Foreman of Copan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Foreman; brothers Ronald, Chester, and Wymann Foreman; sisters Barbara Rippetoe, Florence Allen, and Karen Sue Hinton; and nephews Loy Allen, Michael Foreman, Rodney Spencer, and Jared “Allan” Hinton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville. A celebration of Lee’s life will follow on Thursday, July 10, at 10:00 AM, also at Stumpff Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Oaks Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
