Sandra "Sandy" Kaye Martin

Sandra Kaye “Sandy” Martin, born March 15, 1958, in Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026. Sandy spent her childhood years in Buffalo, Wyoming, where the foundations of her kindness, creativity, and love for learning began to take shape. These qualities would continue to shape her life and the many people she touched along the way. Sandy was a proud alumna of Bartlesville Wesleyan College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She devoted 20 years to teaching second grade at Wesleyan Christian School, where she touched the lives of countless students and families. Sandy was well known for her creativity and the joy she brought to her classroom, including memorable traditions such as “Pig Week,” a celebration inspired by the beloved book Charlotte’s Web. Her love for children and teaching was an important part of who she was. Sandy loved attending First Wesleyan Church and cheering on OKWU basketball. Her faith, friendships, and community connections were an important part of her life, and she found joy in the people and places that surrounded her. Her love for the Lord was a source of strength throughout her life, and her faith remained an important part of who she was. For the last decade of her life, Sandy lived in a wheelchair as she faced the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis. Despite the difficulties her illness brought, she remained strong, loving, grateful, and full of warmth. She never let her circumstances take away from the joy she found in the little things or the love she had for those around her. Through that season, she continued to be remembered for her kindness, creativity, enduring spirit, and strength. During the final two years of her life, Sandy was lovingly cared for at Ignite Medical Resort Adams PARC, which became her second home. Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her two daughters, Jenni Brewer and Jessica Smith; her son-in-law, John Brewer; and her five grandchildren, Lexi Bastings, Kynzie Smith, Dax Smith, Whitley Brewer, and Bentlee Brewer. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Suzy and Bill Hauck; her brother, Bruce McIntyre; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary McIntyre; her father, Ralph McIntyre; and her sister, Sherry Shay. Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is no longer hurting and is finally free from the physical limitations that held her back for so long. They find peace in knowing that she is with Jesus, completely healed and free, and can picture her running again in Heaven. Her strength, faith, kindness, and love will live on through her family, friends, former students, and the many lives she touched. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Wesleyan Church. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Sandy’s life, remember the love and joy she shared with those around her, while giving thanks for the life she lived, the love she shared, and the faith that carried her throughout her life.
