Russell “Rusty” Glen Peterson Russell “Rusty” Glen Peterson, 51, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Russell “Rusty” Glen Peterson was born February 15, 1960 at Salina, Kansas to Glen and Aletha (Wells) Peterson. Rusty moved to Bartlesville at the age of 9 and attended Oak Park Elementary School, Central Junior High and was graduated from College High School with the class of 1978. Rusty was employed at Schwans in Wichita, Kansas before moving back to Bartlesville. Rusty loved to bowl and enjoyed the camaraderie with fellow bowlers. He was a Singles Champion at the Greater Ozarks Open in Springfield, Mo., a back to back city singles championship and many other bowling achievements. He bowled 2 perfect games. In his youth Rusty was active in Boy Scout Troop 114 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Rusty has a heart of compassion, loved animals and rescued and cared for many cats. He also loved OU football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball. Rusty is survived by his parents Glen “Pete” and Aletha Peterson , Bartlesville, 3 sisters Diana Bickle and husband Jerry of Edmond, Okla., Donna Hepp and husband Marty of Edmond, Okla., and Pam Brown of Wichita, Kansas, 4 nieces Alisha Hepp Bloom, Oklahoma City, Kristi Hepp, Edmond, Abigail Bickle, Edmond and Allie Brown, Wichita, 4 nephews Ryan Bloom, Oklahoma City, Austin and Cameron Brown, Wichita and Samuel Bickle, Edmond, and his best friend, Travis Magana, Owasso, Okla., and his beloved cats Lucky, Fluffers, Grey Goose, Nutters and Mary. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Doyle and Velma Wells, John and Neva Peterson and Harvey Wind. Friends are invited to a visitation to be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday evening, August 11, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, August 12, 2011 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 3650 SE Adams Blvd., Bartlesville with Pastor Dan Denison officiating. Interment will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Athelstane Cemetery, Longford, Kansas directed by the Stumpff funeral Home & Crematory in Bartlesville. Casket escorts will include Travis Magana, John Shea, Danny Peters, Rob Kessler, Ted Langford and Guy Buckland. Honorary casket escorts will include Jim Clingenpeel, J.C. Rhoades, Bud Sanders, Ottis Wise, Neal Bridendolf, Harvey Bridendolf, Bill Bridendolf, Bob Jones and Joe Gillman.
