James Leroy Hunt

James L. Hunt, 72, of Osage County, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died on February 22nd, 2021, at Jane Phillips Medical Center. He was born to Samuel E. Hunt and Mary Francis Carpenter on April 15th, 1948 in Oak Grove, Missouri. He attended Odessa High School and served in the army during the Vietnam war. After returning from his service, James married Donna L. Weaver in 1974. Together they had three children, one son, James Robert, and two daughters, Jennifer Lee, and Julie Lynn. After the devastating loss of wife and mother in 1981, James relocated to Oklahoma with his three children in 1986. James worked various jobs before becoming a self-employed contractor up to his retirement. In October of 2002 he married the love of his life, Sharon Baldwin and shared 18 years of marriage together before he passed away. James was preceded in death by his Father, Samuel E. Hunt, Mother, Mary Francis (Hunt) France, Stepfather, John Robert France, Sister, Bonnie Soendker, Texas, and Stepbrother, Robert Allen France, Texas, and son in law Clary Edwards, Texas. He is survived by his wife of the home, Sharon Hunt of Bartlesville and their 2 dogs Smokey and Bandit. His son, James R. Hunt, Bartlesville, Daughter Jennifer (Kenny) Stover of Nowata, Oklahoma, His daughter Julie Hunt of Oak Grove, Missouri, Two Stepchildren, Shelli Edwards of Catoosa, Oklahoma, and Shawn Baldwin of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also, his brother Gary Hunt of Richmond, Missouri, sister Connie (Gerald) Grenon of Dewey, Oklahoma Additionally, his sister Mary (Patrick) Clemens, Odessa, Mo, and sister Sherry (Brady) Jeffers of Odessa, Missouri. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren that he loved dearly. James favorite hobbies included collecting various guns and knives for display and he regularly spent his free time either fishing, racing, or building whatever came to mind. He will be dearly missed. Services will be held at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville on Thursday, February 25th at 2:00 PM.
