Donna "Granny" June Forrest

Donna June Forrest, lovingly known by nearly everyone as "Granny," passed away July 17, 2026, at the age of 72. Donna was born on August 6, 1953, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Dale and Ruth Ann Edwards. Donna attended Copan Public Schools and graduated from Copan High School in 1971. She was a true Hornet through and through, proudly supporting her school and community throughout her entire life. Shortly after she graduated, she married the love of her life, Floyd Forrest. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family, sharing 42 wonderful years of marriage until Floyd's passing in July of 2012. Donna dedicated 40 years of service to Walmart, where she built countless friendships and was known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit. She also spent 10 years serving the Kansas Public School System as a secretary, where she touched the lives of many students, staff, and families. Donna was far more than just a familiar face in the stands, she was a pillar of the Copan community. To generations of children, she was someone they could always count on. Whether celebrating a hard-earned victory or needing a comforting hug after a heartbreaking defeat, Granny was there with open arms, encouraging words, and unwavering love. She generously donated her time wherever it was needed, always putting others before herself. Her kindness, selflessness, and genuine care for those around her left a lasting impression on everyone she met. For kids around Copan, there was only one Granny, and she truly was truly it. Nothing brought Donna greater joy than her family. The births of her children were among the happiest moments of her life, and when she became a grandmother, she truly found her greatest calling. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she rarely missed a sporting event, school activity, or special occasion. Whether cheering from the stands or celebrating their accomplishments, Granny was always their biggest fan. Her unwavering support for the Copan Hornets and especially for her grandchildren made her a familiar face at countless games and events over the years. Donna enjoyed sewing, quilting, walking, and traveling, but she will perhaps be remembered most for the love she poured into her home and family. Her famous homemade cinnamon rolls and freshly baked cookies became treasured traditions, bringing comfort and joy to everyone fortunate enough to gather around her table. Donna is survived by her loving daughter, Lorena Donaho and husband Clint; her son, Tuck Forrest; her grandsons, Lane and Megan, and Cooper and Lana; her granddaughter, Cadee Donaho; her brother, Danny Edwards and wife Donna; her brother-in-law, Anthony Forrest and wife Kourtnie; her mother-in-law, Pam Forrest; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cherished friends, her sewing ladies, and her extended Hornet family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Forrest; her parents, Dale and Ruth Ann Edwards; her sisters, Vicki Forrest and Randy Brown; her brother, Dee Edwards; and her precious granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Forrest. Donna’s legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering devotion to her family, faithful support of her community, and a life lived with kindness and generosity. She leaves behind countless memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved her. A memorial service celebrating Donna's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Copan Gymnasium. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Copan Public Schools, honoring Donna's lifelong love for the Copan Hornets and the students she so faithfully supported.
