July 27, 1934 - August 6, 2021
In the early morning hours of August 6, 2021, Wilma Jean Watkins peacefully left this world at the age of 87. She was born on July 27, 1934 in Bartlesville, OK to Jake and Vera Ade. She spent her early years living near the Hulah Train Depot and had many happy memories playing inside it. Her family moved to Caney, Kansas her 4th grade year where she made many life-long friends that she still referred to them as “The Caney Girls.” At the tender age of fourteen, while working at the local drug store, she met the love of her life, Bill Watkins. They married 4 years later and were together 66 years until he preceded her in death on July 23, 2019. Wilma, also lovingly known as Byguy by her children and grandchildren, will be remembered for her kindness, calm demeanor, unwavering optimism, and complete dedication to family and friends. She was a progressive, forward thinking woman that enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a lifelong learner and always embraced a challenge, especially when it involved learning new technology or a special sewing project. She was a member of the Bartlesville Smocking Guild where she enjoyed close friendships while making special momentos. She also enjoyed many years of square dancing with friends where many life-long friendships were formed. Wilma was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, cooking, reading and sewing, but most of all treasured time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed cruising with friends and her much loved family. She loved traveling the world and learning more about it through the eyes of others. She was always positive and a joy to be around. She cared deeply about others and continued to form new and meaningful friendships even as she neared the end of her life. Wilma is survived by two daughters, Sherri Lynn and her husband Jim and Lori Schultz and her husband John. She has six grandchildren, Logan Lynn, Laura Moser, Laci Lynn and Kristen, Jake and Emma Schultz and three great-grandchildren, Emery Moser, Miles Lynn and Devin Peneda. She is deeply missed, but knowing she is at peace with our heavenly father brings us comfort. Private family services will be held at a later date.
