Funeral services for William Arthur Buck, 93, of Sperry, Oklahoma, were held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sperry, OK, with Pastor Andy Anquoe officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were Denton Wolf, Jeramiah Lewis, Lonny Ford, Ricky Jobe, Donald Wolf and Dennis Wolf. Musical selections were "So Much To Thank Him For", "Serenaded By Angels" and "One Day At A Time" with Bonnie Ecker as vocalist. Military services by VFW Honor Guard District 5 Rifle Team. Bill passed away on December 26, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born March 14, 1920 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to William Franklin and Mattie Abbiegail (Shelton) Buck. Bill grew up west of Sperry and was a graduate of Sperry High School. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He enlisted on January 21, 1942 and was in the 5th Armored Division Troop A 85 Reconnaissance Squad. During his time in the service Bill received a Good Conduct Medal, American Service Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, EAME Service Ribbon, one Silver Service Star and a Presidential Citation. Bill also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorable discharged on November 2, 1945. When Bill lived in Dallas he worked as a supervisor of production. He also worked for Tulsa Canvas Company as a bookkeeper. Bill married Maxine Downs on April 19, 1996. Bill has spent the last 16 years in Sperry where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Maxine of the home, a daughter Sharon Reser of Collinsville; two grandchildren: Glen and Wade Reser, great grandchildren Izzy and Glen, step child Claude Lewis of Owasso; step grandchildren: Daren Lewis, Kristie Wolf, Trina Driver, Anisa Lewis, step great grandchildren: Shannon Williams, Jeramiah Lewis, Denton Wolf, Morgan Wolf, step great great grandchildren: Hanna Williams, Addilyn Lewis, Alyssa Lewis, siblings: Louis Buck of Skiatook; Johnnie Buck of Broken Arrow and Ruth Yeamans of Skiatook. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gary and a brother Earl.
