Vivian W. Hogue

September 23, 1922 - November 23, 2015

Funeral service for Vivian Hogue, age 93, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma was  held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook, with  Dave King officiating.   Interment in Resthaven Cemetery in Sperry, Oklahoma was under the directions of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were Bryan Ponder, Blaine Walters, Roger Walters, Sam Little, Jerry Gibbons and Dan Lee. Musical selection for the service was "Amazing Grace".   Vivian passed away to be with her Lord on November 23, 2015 at her residence. She was born on September 23, 1922 in Inola, Oklahoma one of ten children to Alex and Myrtle (Mears) Walters. She was raised and educated in Inola, later moving to California to work for a time during World War II. Upon returning to Tulsa, Oklahoma Vivian married Ralph Hogue in 1947, he preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. They made their home in Tulsa, where one year later their only daughter Novella Sue was born.  For most of her life Vivian chose to be a homemaker and a mom.  Vivians hobbies included gardening, being an amateur radio operator, crocheting, quilting, and was also an avid reader.  She also loved to bowhunt during deer season with her husband Ralph.  She was known to be quite a good shot!  Fishing was another hobby she enjoyed, and really got the chance to do so when she and Ralph decided to move to Fort Gibson Lake, outside of Wagoner, Oklahoma in 1972, and continued to live there until 1995.  Vivian was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, where she enjoyed the messages taught and the music of the choir.   Vivian is survived by her daughter Novella Ponder of Broken Arrow, a grandson Bryan Ponder of Sand Springs; three brothers: Bob Walters and Clarence Walters both of Oklahoma City; J.B. Walters of Collinsville; two sisters: Helen Carpenter of Skiatook; and Dorothy Lewis of Washington state; and several nieces and nephews.
