Violet Marie Winters

MRS. VIOLET MARIE (SMITH) WINTERS Violet Marie (Smith) Winters passed away peacefully at the Bartlesville Health and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Violet Winters was born to Floyd and Minnie Smith on May 16, 1925 near Ramona, Oklahoma and grew up in Washington County. After attending College High School in Bartlesville she worked for Phillips Petroleum until she married and stayed home to care of her family. She met and married John Winters shortly after the end of World War II and lived in Nowata County until his death in 1994. Violet enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and visiting with her family. She was a member of Nowata Home Demonstration Club and a 4-H leader for many years. She attended the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the UMW and enjoyed singing the church choir. She also liked taking trips with the Seniors of the Chickasaw Nation. When she moved to Comanche she worked part-time at the High School in the horticulture department. She recently returned to Bartlesville to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Winters Sr. and her granddaughter, Jodi Dickinson. She is survived by her five children, John Winters Jr. and., Sharon & husband Lloyd Dickinson, James and wife Linda Winters, Mary and husband Billy Branch, and Patricia Winters. She is also survived by her siblings: Donald and Liz Smith, Margie Farrar, Sue Guess, Dennis and Reva Smith, and Jeanie Pry; her 10 grandchildren Michael Lee Winters and wife Andrea, James Earl Winters and wife Kim, Jeri Elizabeth Dickinson-Ball and husband Jason, Jamie Lynn Dickinson and husband Tom Noble, Brian Christopher Branch and wife Mandy, Chadwick Kyle Branch, and Courtney Gale Branch, Anthony Scott Carey and Joshua Ryan Carey, 11 great grandchildren; Cody James Winters, Miles Winters, Arianna Ramirez, Alexandra Ball, Riley Ball, Kinsley Branch, Kason Branch, Seltrie Carey, Tiernan Carey, Suri Carey and Kaiden Carey, and 2 great- great-grandchildren; Aubrey Roberts and Xanden Kinder. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Jason Elmore of the Friday Nite Church officiating. Graveside Services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers were Mrs. Winters Grandchildren.
