Funeral services for Vernon Edward Lehr, 72, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, were held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook, OK, with Kevin Hogue officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were Rusty Smith, Brett Smith, Mike Lehr, Brian Lehr, Dennis Robbins, and Dennis Thompson. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Lehr and Kenny Mitchell. Musical selections for the service were "I Can Only Imagine" and "Knowing What I Know About Heaven". Vernon passed away on July 11, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born March 1, 1941 in La Harpe, Illinois to Charles and Florence (Prosise) Lehr. He was a graduate of Colchester High School in Illinois. Vernon married Glenda Gregory on October 8, 1960 in Minonk, Illinois. They have made Skiatook their home since 1974. Vernon worked as an inspector for American Airlines where he started working at the age of 19. He was dedicated to his work, raised cattle for several years and worked on tractors. He was a fantastic woodworker and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife Glenda of the home; three daughters: Kathy Smith and husband Rusty of Claremore; Karen Smith and husband Brett of Skiatook; Kristina Lehr of Little Elm, TX; three grandchildren: Kevin Hogue and wife Shelley, Colton and Clifton Smith, three great grandchildren: Kalley, Sam and Ben Hogue, a brother Larry Lehr of Algonquin, Illinois and a sister Evelyn Neidy of Colchester, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
