Sandra Sue Vredenburg

March 1, 1946 - May 25, 2022

Sandra Vredenburg, loving wife, mom, and grandma, went to walk the streets of her heavenly home on May 25, 2022. She fought a good fight and finished her race. Sandra was the daughter of Alfred William Nichols and Fern Edna (Maske) Nichols. She was born in Independence, KS on March 1, 1946. She graduated from Elk City High School and subsequently met and married Jimmy Vredenburg on July 15, 1967. The two moved to Dewey, OK, and then on to Bartlesville, OK, where they resided together for nearly 55 years. In her early years, Sandra worked as a waitress at various cafes. She later worked as a pharmacy assistant, a book keeper, a retail store manager, and a reading tutor. Sandra was a certified teaching assistant and retired from Jane Phillips Elementary School where she worked as a reading tutor for 11 years. Sandra enjoyed sewing, watching the birds and squirrels, tending her yard and flowers, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved teaching children to read and spent untold hours playing with and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a loving heart, always ready to lend a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or wisdom when needed. She was generous and put the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed laughter and often saw the humor in daily life. Her investment in our lives has left a lasting mark. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Fern Nichols; a grandson, Garrett Brown; and her great-grandson, Cooper Stout. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Vredenburg, two daughters, Cindy Brown and Teresa Pratt, four grandchildren, Colt Brown, Amanda (Brown) Mohler, Sara (Brown) Stout, and Hope (Pratt) Sites, and four great-grandchildren: Kadence Mohler, Abagail Mohler, Haidyn Stout, and Piper Stout. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 2:00. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
