Roger Blaine Doty

October 10, 1948 - January 6, 2021

Roger Blaine Doty was born October 10, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Anna and Blaine Doty. He departed this earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2021 in Bartlesville, Ok. Roger was born and raised in Coffeyville, Kansas where he graduated from Field Kinley High School in 1967. Roger then went on to graduate from Coffeyville Community College and Pittsburg State University obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Education. Roger and Sherry Pearsall were united in marriage on May 31, 1969. They were blessed and enjoyed 51 beautiful years together along with their children Jennifer and Chris. Roger was a teacher and football coach in Kansas and sold insurance in Coffeyville before he and his family settled in Bartlesville in 1979. Roger then went to work for Phillips Petroleum where he traveled overseas as a Facilities and Services Manager, Bartlesville Public Schools, and most recently Sodexo. However, one of his most treasured jobs was working for KWON radio in the 80’s and 90’s as the voice of the Bartlesville Bruin Football and Basketball teams and for the American Legion baseball team, He especially loved getting to know the players. Roger and sherry have been members of First Baptist Church, Bartlesville where he served as a deacon for many years. Roger was also an active member of the Watchman, Roger’s humble and servant heart continued with his work with the salvation army Board of Directors and Volunteering at the Hope Clinic. Roger loved the Lord first and foremost, he enjoyed family activities, sports, especially hockey, and his Kansas Jayhawks, serving his church family and telling lots and lots of stories. Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sherry, Daughter Jennifer (Doty) Shafer and husband Steve of Pryor, Ok, Son Chris and wife, Ann of Rutherfordton, NC, Grandsons, Christian Doty, and wife Liz of Edmond, Ok and Joseph Doty of Rutherfordton, NC, Brother, Greg Doty and his wife Sherry of Coffeyville, Ks, and Nieces Larissa Vermillion and family, Krista Conroy and family of Gardner, Kansas. He is also survived by many many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Anna, and Blaine Doty. In honor of Roger, the family request that contributions be made to the Hope Clinic of Washington County. They are a nonprofit free health-based clinic based in Washington County. This is one of Roger and Sherry’s love of serving. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 5 – 7 PM at Stumpff Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church Eph 4:31-32 Ps 116:15 Phil 4:12-13 Joshua 1:9
