Marjorie "Margie" Juanita Birmingham

June 22, 1929 - November 4, 2017

Marjorie "Margie" Juanita (Haddock) Birmingham was born on June 22, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Barney and Lizzie (Gifford) Haddock. She passed away on November 4, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 13 days.      Margie was raise on her mother's 80 acre Cherokee allotment northeast of Skiatook, Oklahoma. She attended school at Vera, Oklahoma, graduating as Valedictorian.  There she met the love of her life, Gerald Dee Birmingham and were married December 4, 1948.     Margie was preceded in death by Gerald, her parents Barney Haddock and Lizzie Gifford Haddock; her siblings Sue Forbes, LaRue Crain, Thelma Cox Rill and Kenneth Haddock.     She leaves behind two sons, Larry D. and Mary E. Birmingham of Tahlequah and Dennis L. and Kelly Birmingham of Cross Hill, South Carolina; four grandchildren: Jamie Reeves, Josi Baker, Travis Birmingham and Jason Birmingham seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.     Margie loved the Lord.  She wrote and copyrighted songs praising Him.  She loved to sing all her life and would sing at the drop of a hat and would sing solo for her  friends at the Skiatook Nursing Home.  She and Gerald were members of the First Baptist Church of Skiatook.     She loved athletics.  In high school she started on the offensive half of the 6-girl-basketball team for the Vera Pirates.  In one game she made over 20 free throws in a row in the play-offs.  She said her sister LaRue was a better player than her.     She was very creative.  An excellent seamstress; when the boys were little she would make some of their clothes.  She utilized her artistic abilities to entertain them by helping them cut out pictures from catalogs and make stories.  She made extra money with ceramics.  Her son Dennis inherited her artistic talents.     Always competitive, Margie loved to play games.   At the Skiatook Nursing Home, she loved to play bingo and won many prizes.  She and Gerald played dominoes, pitch, Uno, Yahtzee and Monopoly with the boys and friends.  While working for Otasco and years thereafter, she and Gerald loved to go camping and fishing with friends.     Gerald, Margie and Aunt Edna (Birmingham) started the B&B Mini-Storage in Skiatook which was sold when they retired.     Margie loved her children and grandchildren very much and prayed for them many times a day.     She loved Gerald very much.  One of the last acts on her death bed was when her granddaughter Josi placed his picture in her lap she tried to smile, touched the picture and muttered "Handsome". They are now together in Heaven with the Lord! Praise the Lord Amen!
