Funeral services for Leland Edward Gideon, 82, of Ponca City, Oklahoma were held Monday February 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Life Springs Family Worship Center in Ponca City, OK with Chris Rush officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were David Rush, David Wehr, Lynn Romine, John McFarland, Miles Miller, Lonnie McVay and Maison Ingram. Musical selections for the service were "Old Rugged Cross" and "I'll Fly Away" with Rene Miller and Beth Rush as vocalists. Leland passed away on January 29, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born March 29, 1935 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Cecil "Pete" Edward and Edna Irene (Booher) Gideon. Leland was a graduate of Avant High School. He served his country from 1954-1958 in the Air Force. Leland married Peggy Lawson on June 22, 1962 in Barnsdall, OK; she preceded him in death on September 21, 2007. He later married Idonna McDonald on December 31, 2008, she preceded him in death on September 4, 2017. Leland worked as a pumper in the oilfield. He had made Barnsdall his home until moving to Ponca City in 2007. He is survived by a son Michael Gideon and wife Susan of Ponca City, OK; three step grandsons: Sean Ingram, Joshua Ingram, Cory Ingram, step son J.R. and Jane McDonald and special friend Jennie Craft. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife's Peggy and Idonna and a son Jeffrey.
