Funeral services for John Edward Hunt, 61, of Avant, Oklahoma, were held Friday, October 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Osage Oaks Church of God with Pastor Doyle Ginn officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were Mickey Hunt, Adam Hunt, Mark Reich, Barry Reich, Wayne Thomas, Monti Thomas, Andy Thomas, and Greg Thomas. Honorary casket bearers for the service were Robert John Ator, Zach Ator, Jake Maggard, Perry Enloe and Bob Enloe. Musical selections for the service were Ill Stroll Over Heaven , Cherokee Amazing Grace , and Go Rest High On That Mountain . Military services were by the American Legion. John passed away on October 13, 2008, in Avant, Oklahoma. He was born on February 20, 1947 in Avant, Oklahoma to Leslie Edward and Dortha (Enloe) Hunt. John served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Zella M. Ellick on January 16, 1971. John worked as a maintenance engineer for Fomac Inc. He enjoyed camping, fishing and decorating for Christmas. John is survived by his wife Zella of the home, two daughters: Jenny Ator and husband Paul of Vera; Sheila Maggard and husband John of Sperry; one brother Mickey Hunt and wife Celeste of Skiatook; two brother-in-laws: Charles Ellick and wife Faye of Foyil; Greek Ellick of Claremore; two sister-in-laws: Mary Thomas of Claremore; Ron and Della Reich of Catoosa; nine grandchildren: Robert John Ator, Ashley Ator, Zach Ator, Shelby Maggard, Jake Maggard, Chelsea Ator, Kimberlee Ator, Brandon Ator, David Ator, two aunts: Leora Davis, Audra Erving, a uncle Wayne Enloe and wife Leona, numerous nieces and nephews, life long friend Everett Forbes and faithful friend Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew Daniel.
