Funeral services for Joe Hardesty, 69 of Tulsa, Oklahoma were held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Tulsa, OK, with Father Mike Knipe officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery in Skiatook, Oklahoma was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were John Walsh, John Walsh, Kevin Bruner, Matthew Griffiths, Michael Griffiths, and Jessie Kohl. Military services were by the VFW Honor Guard 5th District Rifle Squad. Joe passed away on November 22, 2010 in Tulsa. He was born January 30, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Joseph Verland Sr. and Vivian Emma (Gilmore) Hardesty. He was a graduate of Skiatook High School and later joined the Air Force. Joe married Shirley Wilson on November 21, 1979 in Kennewick, Washington. He was an electrician that worked in power plants and hi-rises. After retiring he made his home in the Tulsa area. He is survived by his wife Shirley, three daughters: LaDonna Griffiths and husband Brett of Broken Arrow; Angela Walsh and husband John of Bixby; Michelle Bruner and husband Kevin of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, three step children: Ron Goforth and wife Joann of Jacksonville, N.C.; Tara Watkins and husband Greg of Okmulgee; Ray Goforth and wife Judy of Collinsville; five step grandchildren, two half brothers: Jimmy and George Miller, and half sister Rosie Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John, sister Susie and grandson Matthew.
