James Newton Ward

April 12, 1935 - February 17, 2021

James Newton Ward, age 85 from Skiatook, passed away at 3:40pm from this earth into heaven at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa with his children at his side. James was born April 12, 1935 in Earlsburo, OK to John Earl ward and Frances Sarah(Lonsbury)Ward. James was one of 6 children. When he was young his family moved from Oklahoma to Indiana so his father could work in the steel mills. He graduated from Merrillville High School in 1956. He then went on to become a carpenter. On April 21, 1957 James and Gloria Larson were united in marriage. In 1995 he and Gloria moved to Colorado and opened a bed and breakfast. They operated this until Gloria's health would not allow it. Gloria passed away on May 11, 1999 . Jim and Gloria shared 43 years of marriage. Jim later married Ellen and they shared 4 years of marriage before her passing. Jim and Gloria adopted 4 children. David(South Bend,IN), Debra(Lee)Newswanger(Pierceton,IN), Dan(Carol)Ward,(Skiatook,OK), and Diana(Mark)Walters,(Buena Vista,CO). He enjoyed 7 grandchildren, Ashley,Alyssa,Andrew,Evan,Colton,Cesilie and Erika.  He had 6 great grand children with number 7 due June 2021. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, Wanda(Dan) Stowers (Indiana) and her family. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents,his brothers Kenneth,Darryl and Paul. He is also preceeded in death by his grandson,Ian Newswanger. Per Jim's request he will be cremated and then laid to rest next to Gloria in Woodland Park,CO at a later date.
