James Burl Best

Funeral services for James Burl Best, 87, of Salina, Oklahoma will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Shelton officiating Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery is under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. James passed away on February 25, 2015 in Salina, Oklahoma. He was born on May 22, 1927, in Herd, Oklahoma, to Roy and Retha Mae (Sitton) Best. James was a pipeliner working all over the U.S. then later he became a truck driver. He enjoyed working on trucks and took pride in growing tomatoes. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Burl always had a dog. He leaves behind many stories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Burl is survived by his children: Bob and Paula Best of Pryor; Gary and Maxine of Locust Grove; Sheri Buirrea of Tulsa; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two sisters: Jackie and Ray Bray of Avant; and Gwenda and Richard O'Brock of Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ora Lee Brown and Virginia Best and a brother Leonard "Corky" Best. The family gives a special thanks and appreciation to Parkhill Care Center in Salina and the wonderful people that have cared for him and loved him.
