Fera Louise Monkress

June 27, 1926 - May 8, 2016

Graveside services for Fera Louise Monkress, 89 of Owasso, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma with  Pastor Mitch Leonard officiating.             Interment in Woodland Cemetery is under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home.  Casket bearers for the service are Aaron Monkress, Shawn Monkress, Brian McLaughlin, Troy Newell, Greg Monkress and Shane Monkress. Honorary casket bearers are Phillip Monkress and Adam Hicks.  Musical selections for the service are "Goodnight & Good Morning", "Precious Memories" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord".             Fera passed away on May 8, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma.  She was born on June 27, 1926 in Bird City, Kansas to Guy Ellsworth and Alice Julia (Dobbs) Patterson.   Fera married Clarence Edwin Monkress on January 16, 1946 in Atwood, KS: he preceded her in death on November 11, 2004.  They lived in Hominy for 18 years where she worked for Munsingwear as a seamstress for 10 years.  In July of 2004 Fera and Clarence moved to Skiatook.  Fera later moved to Owasso where she has lived for the last two years.  She enjoyed writing and sending cards to family and friends, personalizing each card.  Fera also enjoyed the beauty of butterflies.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.             Fera is survived by two sons: Stanley L. Monkress and wife Sue of Gulfport, Mississippi; Thomas E. Monkress and wife Rebecca of Skiatook; two daughters: Julia G. McLaughlin and husband Robert of Skiatook; Yvonne S. Hicks and husband Danny of Skiatook; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.             She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Janice Newell, two great grandsons: Junior Ramsey and Francis Douglas Monkress, great great granddaughter Casey Marshall.
