Elden Johnnie Rose, 87 of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma passed away on February 2, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow with Pastor Mark Shelton officiating. Interment is under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service are Jeff Rose, Brett Rose, Johnny Hodges, Austin Hodges, Michael Higgins and Yancy Applegate. Musical selections for the service are "Amazing Grace", "In The Garden" and "On The Wings of Dove". Elden was born on October 14, 1925, at Watts, Oklahoma to George Barto and Emma (West) Rose. He served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp. from December 11, 1943 to May 3, 1946. Elden married Maudie Marie Rector on July 4, 1949 in Sapulpa Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2008. He worked as an agent for the Frisco Railroad for 33 years. Elden was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1165 in Ft. Scott, Kansas. He had been a long time resident of Skiatook before moving to Ft. Gibson 2 years ago. He is survived by his two daughters: Barbara Higgins of Tulsa, Brenda Hodges of Ft. Gibson; grandchildren: Jeff Rose, Shannon Rose, Brett Rose, Tara Rose, Johnny Hodges, Michael Higgins and Kimberly Applegate, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Jerry Rose on August 13, 2012, and siblings.
