Funeral Services for Edna Josephine Tanksley 90, of Avant, Oklahoma were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 21, 2009 at the Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Congregational hymn for the service was Where The Roses Never Fade . Edna passed away on October 19, 2009. She was born March 4, 1919 in Reno, Arkansas to O.V. and Francis (Renee) Cox. Edna married James William Tanksley on March 31, 1979; he preceded her in death on June 25, 1996. She was a resident of Avant and Skiatook before moving to Tulsa where she has lived for the last four years. Edna was a member of the Skiatook Church of Christ. Edna is survived by a son Bill Tanksley and wife Avalon of Rogers, AR; four daughters: Wanda Koettel and husband Glenn of Newport AR; Rita Rainwater of Choctaw, AR; Jean Wofford of Tulsa; Margie Clark and husband Vernon of Tulsa; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two sisters: Mary Howell of Colorado Springs, CO; and Ruth Messer of Harrisburg, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, three grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
