Bobby Gene Houston

May 20, 1931 - June 28, 2021

Monday, June 28, 2021, the Good Lord took our “Big Ape” and “Papa” home. Bobby Gene Houston, 90, died in Dodge City, KS, surrounded by his family. He was born May 20, 1931, to Robert and Lydia Houston in Hobbs, NM. He married Ina Lorene Edson on December 2, 1950, in Sherman, TX. He enjoyed over 70 years of marriage to Lorene. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Airman, 1950-1955, stationed in the U.S. and internationally. He completed a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central State College in Ada, OK. After working for Mid-Continent Supply Co. in TX, he made his home in Bartlesville, OK, and worked for almost 30 years at Phillips Petroleum Co. He finished his career at Applied Automation Inc and then happily retired. Of all his achievements, he would want it known that his greatest, was finding the Lord Jesus in May of 1959. He faithfully and sincerely shared the love he found with his family and all who knew him. During his retirement he served weekly, sharing that love, with the homeless at Agape Mission in Bartlesville, even if his grandkids were in town visiting. He loved his grandchildren well and passed along much wisdom. A favorite being that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the only thing necessary after that is dessert…preferably ice cream. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Houston; one daughter Susie Stelle and husband Greg of Dodge City, KS; one son Mick Houston of Nashville, TN; three granddaughters Kara Hutson and husband Bryce of Groveland, FL; Megan Kleven and husband Wade of Dodge City, KS and Hannah Houston of Mount Juliet, TN; six great-grandchildren Zane, Gemma, Ruth & Abe Hutson of Groveland, FL and Autumn & Kurtis Kleven of Dodge City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joel D. Houston. Visitation: Sunday, July 11th, 2-5 pm Stumpff Funeral Home, 1600 SE Washington, Bartlesville, OK 74006 Graveside Service: Monday, July 12th, 10:00 am Memorial Park Cemetery, 4200 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, OK 74006 In lieu of flowers please help us continue Bob’s support of Agape: Agape Mission, P.O. Box 1085, Bartlesville, OK 74005 Please note Bob Houston Memorial.
