Bob E. Heatly

February 21, 1943 - April 29, 2022

Bob E. Heatly passed from this life at age 79 on Friday, April 29, 2022. He was born in Mangum, OK on February 21, 1943. He married Linda Jean Tinker on February 15, 1964 in Bartlesville, OK. Their daughter Kimberly Jean was born in 1969 in Champaign-Urbana, IL. Bob was an accomplished Artist, Architect and Professor of Architecture throughout his career. In 1978 he returned to Oklahoma State University to help shape the School of Architecture into what it is today until his retirement in 1999. He taught design, color theory, architectural design, graduate design and competition studios at Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M University and University of Illinois. He mentored over 150 international and national design competition winners during those 40 years. Bob retired in 1999 and moved to Condorcet, France before returning to the U.S. in 2009. He made one trip back to the U.S. while living overseas to see the birth of his twin granddaughters. While in France he assisted the University of Illinois with their architecture testing and always tried to meet with the OSU architecture students and staff as they traveled through the region over the summers. His paintings over the years evolved into layered abstracts of reality with the environment or buildings being the focal point and adjusting with distance and lighting to intrigue the viewer. In later years he embraced digital media to create his art. Bob’s influence continues with his granddaughter Jhenna; as she has a love of the arts and appears to be following in his footsteps. Bob E. Heatly is survived by his daughter Kimberly J. (Heatly) Bunch, her husband Jimmy L. Bunch, and granddaughters, Kaylah Jean and Jhenna Lyn Bunch of Spavinaw, OK. He is also survived by his niece’s Tami Tinker and Sommer Tinker, both of Bartlesville, OK, and grand-nephew Tyler Tinker of Boger, TX. Bob was preceded by his wife Linda J. (Tinker) Heatly of Stillwater, OK, parents Robert and Marge (Boyd) Heatly of Altus, OK, in-laws William H. and Mary J. Tinker of Bartlesville, OK and brother-in-law William (Butch) Tinker of Fayetteville, AR.
