Betty Jo Thomas Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Betty Jo Greenwood Townley Thomas passed from this life into the arms of her Lord on June 29, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on April 27, 1927, at Dillard, Oklahoma, growing up and educated in the Ardmore, Oklahoma area. She was married to Leburn Townley from 1945 until 1972, residing in Barnsdall. She worked at Munsingwear in Pawhuska and for Woolaroc Preserve. She married Virgil Thomas on July 29, 1975. Well-known for her great cooking and gardening, she was also a homemaker, devoting her life to her children and family, and a long-time member of Pentecost Church. She loved flowers and her yard in Wynona, where she lived with her husband, Virgil, was filled with them. She later moved to Bartlesville. Mrs. Thomas is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Thomas; parents: Fred Mace Greenwood and Paula VanDora McCarey Greenwood; her son, Lindal Townley, her sisters: Vyda Greenwood Walters and Frances Almeda Greenwood Loving; her half-brother, William White; brothers: Fred Greenwood, Jr., Bobbie Greenwood, Tom Greenwood, and Jimmy Greenwood. She is survived by her children: Jerry Townley of Dewey, Sue Monkress and husband Stan of Bartlesville, Ricky Townley of Hominy, OK, Joe Townley and wife Cindy of Avant, OK; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Rex Greenwood and wife Patricia of Neosho and many beloved nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be at the Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville, OK on Tuesday, July 5 at 9, funeral at 10 am at Stumpff Funeral Home, with a private graveside service following at Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall, OK.
