Barbara Dene Chouteau

August 13, 1930 - May 30, 2022

Barbara Dene (Penna) (Kuepker) Chouteau, 92, passed peacefully, Monday, May 30, 2022, at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held June 6, 2022, at the 10:00 A.M., Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Barbara was born August 13, 1930, in Pawhuska, the daughter of Joseph Jefferson and Eula Geraldine (West) Penna. As a child she moved every four or five years, living in Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas. She completed high school in Emporia, Kansas with the graduating class of 1948, and attended Emporia State Teachers College (currently Emporia University) where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. While attending college she met and fell in love with Wayne T. Kuepker. They were married on December 29, 1949, and moved to Bartlesville in 1950, where Wayne started his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Phillips Petroleum Company. Bartlesville has remained her home for all, but three years spent in Norway, which was an incredibly happy time in their lives. In 1995, Wayne passed away after a lengthy illness with emphysema, after a good friend lost his wife, they decide to share their future together and she and John Chouteau were married on April 17, 1999. Barbara loved flowers and was an Iris Garden Clubber, she also pressed flowers and made beautiful note cards with them. Art association was an important part in her life, she enjoyed making pottery and sculptures, she also enjoyed working at the Mutual Tuesday House, the blood mobile, Meals on Wheels and at the 55+ Center. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her first husband Wayne. She is survived by her three children, Kathy and Mike Pearson, Jim and Debbie Kuepker, Carol and Dave Kulchinski five grandchildren, Jason and Alison Kuepker, Chad Kuepker, Kyle and Amanda Kuepker, Todd and Jenny Kulchinski, Jeff and Noelia Kulchinski, eleven, great-grandchildren, Brendan, Emma, Noah and Ainsley Kuepker, Cayden and Livia Kuepker, Kyleigh Cohen, MacKenzie Kuepker, Aubrey Kulchinski and Trevor Angerstein.
