Westley Raymond Jones

Westley Raymond Jones, “Wes”, was born on August 19th of 1949 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Ed Jones and LaFaun Frakes. He passed away on October 18th of 2022 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at the age of 73. He was a graduate of College High School in Bartlesville, OK. He was the owner of Westside Paint & Body Shop here in Bartlesville. He was Preceded in death by his mother LaFaun Frakes Jones, his father Ed Jones, and his brother-by-bond Doug Sears. Westley Jones is survived by his son Travis Wayne Jones, his granddaughter Rilee Nicole Susmilch, his brother Ron Jones, his Nephew Danny Jones and wife Kim, his sister Janette King and husband Tommy, his nephew Casey Mattix, his grandson Trevor Jones, and his wife Donna Perry. Wes was known by many and lived the life of a legend. He began working in the family business for his father and grandfather before taking ownership and continuing to build the business. He built a reputation for himself and Westside Paint and Body. He was most proud of his accomplishment and custom painting. He partnered with Carl Green and became well-known while working in California. He also worked for many well-known customers including Evel Knievel. His custom work was featured in many magazines including “Rod & Customs”, “Offroad”, and “Carcraft”. He became well-known with more than 140 articles written about him and his work. He was featured in the 50th-anniversary issue of “Rod & Customs” for the “Dream Truck”. It was said that the “Dream Truck” was probably the most memorable custom vehicle that has been built. One of his hobbies included Drag Boat Racing and was well-known for being a top competitor in that circuit. His custom Boats “Purple Haze” and “Talks Cheap” became well-known. Soon people were bringing their boats for Westside Custom paint. He enjoyed Motorcross in his early years and that love for that sport was passed down to his son and grandson. Harleys and custom bikes became another hobby that he enjoyed. His custom bikes brought in even more demand for his work. Rodeo has been a family tradition and he himself rode Broncs. The years barrel racing with Rilee were some of his best years with the sport. He was a skilled hunter. With many large bucks taken down but his trophy was the 14-point buck that is hanging on his wall today. He enjoyed strong friendships that lasted a lifetime. Anyone you meet that tells you they know Wes Jones will also have a story for you. The family requests that you bring those memories and stories and join us at the place you would always find him, at Westside Paint & Body. The Family will hold a Celebration of Life there on Sunday, October 23rd from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. He requested cremation and no other services or ceremonies.
