Susan Louise Scott

Susan Louise (Willis) Scott passed away on May 20, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on December 15, 1946, to Dale E. Willis and Kathleen Virginia Roy. Susan graduated from Artesia High School in 1964. She attended the Community College of the Air Force and received her Contracts Management Associates Degree. She also attended Noncommissioned Officer Academy for 6 weeks in 1985 and Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School for 30 days in October of 1978. Susan served for 22 years in the United States Air Force as a Contracting Officer, 3 years in Civil Service, and 2 years in Nevada Power. On October 11, 1978, Susan married John Clayton Scott. Susan received many awards while serving for the Air Force, including, the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commander Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, USAF Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 oak leaf cluster. She was an integral part of the Stealth Fighter Program, among first women in Air Force Contracting Program. Susan had an overall love for music, she loved singing, listening to music, and learning to play music on various instruments. She also loved to sew for her loved ones and paint. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Dale Willis; mother, Kathleen Virginia Willis; and sisters, Nancy Conley and Linda Willis. Susan is survived by her husband, John C. Scott of the home; daughters, Ellen Fernandez of Bartlesville and Robbin Thomas and husband Troy of Bartlesville; son, Robert Scott and wife Vanessa of Maine; nine grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. The come and go memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Eldercare in Bartlesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Washington County SPCA.
