Ruby Fern Moody

Ruby Fern (Sharpton) Moody was born on October 26, 1928, in Dewey, Oklahoma to Homer Warner Sharpton and Lena Sarah (Gannon) (Sharpton) Bowser. She passed away on December 24, 2022, at the age of 94. She graduated with the class of 1947 while attending Dewey High School in Dewey, Oklahoma. Ruby married William “Bill” Keller on June 22, 1947, in Dewey, Oklahoma and they made their home in Phoenix, AZ. Ruby moved back to Oklahoma in 1969 and met Walter L. Moody and they married on December 30, 1977, in Dewey, Oklahoma. Ruby Moody started work in 1948-1955 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Tulsa, OK, later moving to Phoenix, AZ as a long-distance operator. Upon returning to Oklahoma, she was employed at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma as a nursing secretary from 1969-1973. From 1974-1984 she worked at the National Zinc Co. in the accounting department. Ruby retired after 10 years of service to enjoy her home in the country. After the death of her husband Walter in 1993, she sold her home in Oglesby, Oklahoma, and moved back to Dewey where she lived until her death. Ruby loved “genealogy”. She traced her family, on her grandmother’s side to the year 1066. She donated 2 of her books to the Bartlesville Library Family Center. She loved to read, sew, crochet, and make all kinds of craft projects and enjoyed birdwatching. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family “muchly”, as she would say. She especially enjoyed trips with her girls, antiquing, shopping, or their yearly trip to Canton, Texas. When her health wouldn’t allow these outings, they met every Thursday at her home for lunch. She had a great sense of humor and she loved to tease. She was baptized on October 14, 1945, by Rev. John Foust and was a faithful member of Memorial Christian Church where she served in many different areas. She was also a member of Moose Lodge #1709, Eagles Lodge #610, and the Bartlesville Genealogical Society. Ruby Fern Moody was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Lena, her husband Walter Moody, her son Donald Keller, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 1 stepsister, her grandson Danny Lee, 2 nephews, her cousin Ruth Proctor, her stepmother Vesta Sharpton, and her stepfather Ike Bowser. She is survived by her children Kathy L. (Keller) Sims (Keith), Barbara J. (Keller) Lee (Robert), Tricia K. (Moody) Moses (Paul), her grandchildren Christopher “Chris” Keller (Charis), Sarah (Keller) Hendrix (Corey), Amy (Keller) Fiskel (Oron), Brian Sims, Scott Sims (Kaity), Kevin Sims, Melissa (Lee) Davis (Thresa), Kenny Lee (Amanda), Hayden Moses, and Weston Moses, Granddaughter-in-law Dana Lee, her great-grandchildren Garred Keller, Jamie Keller, Matthew Hendrix, Taylor Davis, Riley Davis, Gaia Fiskel, Wyatt Lee, Makena Sims, Skyler Easter, Tryston Easter, her special Daughter-in-Law Sue Maurer (Bob), her step-sisters Connie Sharpton and Sharon (Sharpton) Wilmon, stepsons Jerry Moody (family), and Ronnie Moody (family), and several more cousins, nieces, and nephews.
