Margie Lou Lewis

Margie Lou Lewis, 76, passed away on July 25, 2026. Margie was born on June 5, 1950, in Independence, Kansas, to Violet Geneva Nichols and Jeremiah Nichols. She was the seventh of eight children. The family later moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Margie attended Central and College High School. After the birth of her son, Gerald Lewis, Margie joined her husband in Germany. Their family later returned to the United States and lived in White Sands, New Mexico, where their daughter, Denise Lewis, was born. Over the years, the family also lived in Florida, Bartlesville, and Alabama before ultimately returning to Bartlesville. Following her divorce, Margie remained in Bartlesville to raise her children. Known for her generous heart and nurturing spirit, Margie became a surrogate mother to many of her children's friends. When her grandson, Dallas Lewis, was born, she became an integral part of his life, helping to raise, guide, and support him throughout the years. Margie worked as an assistant manager for Circle K, EZ Mart, and Stax convenience stores in Dewey, Bartlesville, Skiatook, and Collinsville, Oklahoma, until her retirement in 2011. She genuinely enjoyed interacting with people and was known for her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others. No act of kindness was too small for Margie, and she was often the first to volunteer her time and assistance, even when her own resources were limited. In her spare time, Margie enjoyed playing Bingo, reading, sewing, and embroidery. She especially loved traveling and camping with family and friends, visiting numerous states and national parks throughout her life. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Violet Geneva Nichols and Jeremiah Nichols; her stepfather, Richard Harvey Stokesberry; her son, Gerald Lewis (Bull Dog;) her sisters, Lucy Whaling, Irene Doggett, Grace Plasencia, and Rose Phillips; her brother, Everett Nichols; her nephew, Tony Doggett; and her nieces, Sheila Jones and Beckey Jolene Doggett. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Lewis and husband Glenn Scott; her grandson, Dallas Lewis and wife Latisha Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Maxwell Lewis and Lily Lewis; her sister, Donna Martin and husband Marion Martin; her brother, Jeremiah Nichols Jr.; her sister-in-law, Janet Nichols; her brother-in-law, Nick Whaling; her niece, Kathy Clear and husband Roger Clear; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Margie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering love for her family, and the many lives she touched through her quiet acts of compassion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
