Lois Louise Brashear

Lois Louise Brashear, affectionately known as mom and grandma Lois, entered her eternal home with the Lord July 17, 2026. Lois was born January 31, 1936, to Sam and Cynthia Sisco in Keystone, Oklahoma. Lois later moved to Burbank, Oklahoma where she attended school through her junior year serving as an office aid and the class Vice President. Lois finished her schooling at Ochelata High School as part of the graduating class of 1954. During her time as an Ochelata Longhorn she was on the softball team, a student council representative, assistant business manager of the yearbook staff, participated in the senior play, and was a queen candidate for prom. Lois enjoyed going to the dance hall with her older brothers and sisters. One particular evening in 1952, she met a strapping young man, who had just returned from the Army, named Johnie Brashear. A short time later they were married on May 30,1953 making their home in Ochelata, OK, where they raised two sons, JB and Jimbo Brashear, and celebrated 72 years of marriage together. Lois was first and foremost a homemaker taking care of her husband and children. As the boys got older, she became the Avon lady around town. On July 2, 1974, she went to work for the United States Postal Service at the Ochelata post office. She achieved her greatest career accomplishment receiving her Postmaster title on February 10, 1979, and served as Postmaster until her retirement on January 31, 1999. When Lois wasn’t working or tending to the home, she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, enjoying trail rides in the mountains, going to Branson, Colorado, and Wyoming, and of course, hitting up all the local shops. Shopping was her favorite, whether it was at the local Dillard’s or calling up a few friends to hop on a plane to the World’s largest mall in Minnesota, shop till they dropped, and head home all in one day. She was the definition of a classy lady, always dressed to the nines, every hair and detail in place. Lois also enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and if you were around you were going to eat. Blackberry cobbler, cherry cheesecake, fried fish and fried potatoes, baked beans, it was always a full spread, and it was always good! It has been said that Lois was a true proverbs 31 woman; noble character, trustworthy, hardworking, providing for her family, her children call her blessed and her husband praises her. Lois was one of a kind and will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all. Lois is survived by one son JB Brashear, Four grandchildren Travis (Danielle) Brashear, Joel (Kasi) Brashear, Jordan (Christian) Brashear, and James Brashear, six great grandchildren Madisyn Brown, Amelia Brashear, John Brashear, Jonah Brashear, Judson Brashear, and Charlotte Brashear along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. Lois is preceded in death by her Husband Johnie Brashear, Son Jimbo Brashear, Great granddaughter Ava Brashear, Father Sam Sisco, Mother Cynthia Sisco, Brothers Russel Sisco, Olen Sisco, Billie Sisco, and Henry Sisco, Sisters Lula Coffman, Merry Gordon, and Margie Harp. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Lois to the Ochelata Baptist Church. Family will receive visitors at Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, 5-7pm. A funeral service honoring Lois’s life will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:00pm at Ochelata Baptist Church with graveside services following at Ochelata Cemetery.
