Jerry D Hix

Jerry Hix, 70, entered his heavenly home on March 23. Jerry was born on February 2, 1956, at home to Delores Morrison Hix and A.B. Hix. A doctor arrived the following day, making February 3 his legal birthdate. He was the fourth of nine children and was raised in a large family. He attended elementary school in Cotton Valley and later graduated from Copan High School in 1975. He also attended Tri County Tech, where he studied mechanics. Jerry held many titles throughout his life, but the one he cherished most was “Daddy.” He worked in the oilfield for Ladd Petroleum and later for RET. He was also employed at Eve Industries and spent many years with Central States Business Forms. In addition, Jerry owned his own woodworking business and managed two mobile home parks. A man of deep faith, Jerry served as a pastor for many years in Bartlesville, Caney, and Copan, touching countless lives with his compassion and love for people. On September 24, 1976, he married the love of his life, Dawn Renee Griffith. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. In his younger years, Jerry played sports, participated in FFA, and even rodeoed. He loved to sing, go dancing, and spend time with others. Above all, he loved people. Jerry’s greatest accomplishments were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also earned letters in football and basketball, received numerous awards and ribbons through FFA, and proudly held diplomas from Copan High School and Tri County Tech. He obtained his DEQ wastewater certification and his minister’s license. Jerry found joy in attending his children’s and grandchildren’s games, school events, and annual Grandparents Day celebrations. He was passionate about woodworking, farming, construction, and helping others in any way he could. His legacy of faith, love, hard work, and kindness will live on in all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Hix, his father, A.B. Hix, and several siblings including Debra Manning, Steven Hix, Mike Hix, Betty Combs, and Kathy Kimrey. He is survived by his wife Renee and son Ryan Hix, of the home, daughter Jeri Weatherspoon and husband David of Copan, son Shane Hix and his wife Kim of Bartlesville, and adopted daughter, Jessica Hix of Bartlesville, and proclaimed daughter Brandy Secondine and husband Josh of Caney, KS , as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Summer Joseph and her three children Matthew, Bella and Kymber, Dakota Weatherspoon and his two boys, Jasper and Onyx, Autumn Weatherspoon and her fiancé Angel Higareda and their son Manny, and Faith Ann Weatherspoon, Destiny Hix and boyfriend Aleks Hogan, Wynter Saige Birk, Elijah Hix, Lacey Reeder and son Lane, Jacob Dolt, Kyleea Tafoya and MJ, Abigail Cowan and husband Tyler, their two kids Waylon and Bentley, Zoey, Macee and Joshua Secondine. Brothers Jim Hix and wife Betty of Bartlesville, Dean Hix of Pawhuska and sister Cheryl Hix Dufoe of Idaho, lifetime friend Jimmy Holland and wife Vicky as well as a host of other family and friends. His Memorial Service will be a legacy of love. We are asking that as many people come as possible if he touched your life in any way. The celebration is scheduled for April 3 at 1030 a.m. at Toby Moreland Student Center in Copan, OK. The address is 527 Hornet Lane. Come as you are and share your memories with friends and family.
