Janis Marie Stewart

Janis Marie (Vinson) Stewart May 6, 1937 ~ January 1, 2016 Janis was born at home in rural Washington County just south of Ramona Oklahoma to Silby (Sib) Vinson Sr. and Autie (Luttrell) Vinson on the 6th day of May 1937. The family soon moved into Ramona where she attended and graduated from Ramona High in 1955. Shortly after Janis married and had three children before entering the workforce and beginning her career with Phillips Petroleum Company. During this time she enjoyed working evenings at Marie's Steak House (Bartlesville). Janis and Carl were married at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas in 1975. While working for Phillips she attended the Bartlesville School of Business. Janis advanced through varied positions ending in marketing where she managed worldwide accounts, where she made many lifelong friends from around the globe. Janis retired from Phillips in 1996 after a fulfilling career. Janis was a lifetime member with the Jane Phillips Sorority (VIP's), Sweet Adeline's where she sang, performed and volunteered for the surrounding community. She was a champion bowler playing on multiple leagues and traveling to state and regional tournaments. Janis enjoyed to entertain family and friends at her rural Bartlesville poolside house, fishing, swimming, gardening, traveling and playing with her grandchildren,especially teaching them to swim. She was most recently proud to see and be part of five female generations of her living lineage. Janis was a lifelong member of the Friends Church in Ramona where she served on the Church Council for many years. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Sib Vinson, Bill Vinson Sr., Son Mark Dean Lefler and Grandchildren Corinne Marie Witherow, Gary Nathaniel Wayne Wrana. Janis is survived by her husband Carl Stewart of rural Bartlesville, daughter Tonya (Lefler) Horn and her husband Bob Horn of Lehigh, Ok, son Jeff Lefler and his wife Michelle of Norman, Ok, father of her children Claude H. Lefler Jr of rural Bartlesville, Two Sisters Betty Melton of Bartlesville and Nadine Fees of Ramona, Sister-in-law Patsy Vinson of rural Ramona, Stepson Michael Stewart and wife Brenda of Broken Arrow, Ok. Special friends Martha and Greg Carlton of Rural Colorado. Ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Janis left this world on January 1, 2016 peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones. A celebration of Janis's life will be at the Friends Church in Ramona on Wednesday January 6, 2016, at 2PM.
