Mrs. Doris Arlene Kindley Mrs. Doris Arlene Kindley, 87, of Bartlesville, died early Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Locust Grove. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 13, 2013 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Robert Hamm officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until the service time as the casket will remain closed at the end of the services. A memorial funds has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Hope Harbor Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018. Doris was born at Foraker, Oklahoma on December 20, 1925 to George Evert and Lillian M. (Phillips) Kerns. She grew up and received her education Osage County at Foraker, Avant and Barnsdall. She was married to Clyde Glen Kindley on February 23, 1942 at Pawhuska. They made their home briefly in Tulsa until returning to Osage County to make their home for a year until moving to Washington County where Clyde worked on an oil lease. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1946 and returned to Bartlesville in 1948. Clyde was employed at the Bartlesville Police Department from 1953 until his retirement in 1981 and Doris was employed with Southwestern Bell as an operator and clerk until her retirement in 1981. Clyde preceded her in death on December 5, 1986 and Doris continued her home in Bartlesville until moving to Tulsa in 2001 and then to her daughter’s home at Locust Grove in May of 2013. Clyde and Doris were former members of the Sixth & Dewey Church of Christ in Bartlesville, former members of the Dewey Church of Christ where they were active in the bus and children’s ministries and she was a current member of the of the Pryor Church of Christ. Doris was a great seamstress and had made all of the attendant’s dresses for her granddaughter’s wedding. Doris is survived by two daughters, Glenda Howard and husband John of Locust Grove and Cindy Cottrell and husband Floyd of Collinsville, three brothers, Charles Wesley Kerns of Bartlesville, Ronald L. Kerns of Skiatook, and Larry D. Kerns and wife Becky of Ripon, California, five grandchildren, Tammy Ragsdale, Teresa Olsen, Lisa Swan, Tony Howard and Carri Cass, ten great grandsons and one great granddaughter.. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Howard Kerns and George Kerns and one sister, Evelyn Haymes. PDF Printable Version
