Donald K. Kinney

Donald Keith Kinney was born on April 19th, 1937 in Laverne ,a small farm town in western Oklahoma. He went to be with his Lord on April 2nd 2026. Don is one of eight children of Calvin H. Kinney and Gladys M. Kinney and grew up on a little farm near Laverne Oklahoma. Family members preceding him in death are Pearl Wingert of Enid Oklahoma. Grace Lorene of Denton Texas, Calvin Earl Kinney of Derby Kansas, Bruce J. Kinney of Woodward Oklahoma, Thad H. Kinney of Crescent Oklahoma and Harold Eugene (Gene) Kinney of Shattuck, Oklahoma. Don graduated from Laverne High School in May 1955. He joined the United States Army on July 16, 1955. After Completing basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He returned home and gave Margaret Ann Coffman a set of rings and with her father’s consent. They married upon his return, she waited three years. . Don spent 32 months on active duty in Germany, receiving the rank of E4 and promoted to Tank Commander with the 7th Army, 3rd Armored Division, 36th Armored Infantry Battalion. His duties included patrolling the border between Russia occupied East German and the American controlled West Germany sector. Don remained active in the national guard until July 1963. Don married Margaret Ann Coffman on July 16th, 1958 and moved to Liberal Kansas. Two children were born of the marriage. Cynthia Dawn Kinney deceased and Timothy Mark Kinney of Tulsa Oklahoma and grandson Kyle Jarrett Kinney of Portland Oregon and two great grandchildern. Don and Markie moved to Liberal Kansas in 1958. Don worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company for 16 years. In 1975 they bought a farm and moved to Nelagoney Oklahoma near Pawhuska. Don worked at farming, ranching and at an oilfield supply store in Pawhuska. In 1995 he went to work at Dick Connors Correctional Center in Hominy Oklahoma as a Warehouse Supervisor, retiring in 2004. Don & Margaret sold their farm in 2004 and moved to Skiatook Oklahoma where they lived the remainder of their years together. Margaret & Donald Kinney received the blessing of salvation, led by Pastor Marcus Sizemore on January 2nd 2000 at the Nelagoney Baptist Church in Nelagoney OK. Don once stated, “That was the most rewarding experience of my lifetime. The changes I experienced from that point on are inexplicable”. The Lord will speak to you in many ways. You will ignore not knowing the difference until an older church lady named Anna Meral Craun gets a hold of you and says you need too get yourself and your wife in this church, and we did.
