Mr. Lloyd L. Basler Jr., 78, of Bartlesville, died at 12:45 A.M. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Basler will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Rummage officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 9 P.M. on Tuesday as the casket will remain closed at the services.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church “Building Fund”, 5111 S.E. Nowata Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
Mr. Basler was born on April 25, 1933 at Thayer, Kansas to Lloyd Leon Basler and Dorothy Fay (Elrod) Basler. He came to Bartlesville with his family as a child, attended Bartlesville schools and graduated from College High School in 1951. He entered the United States Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1955. He returned to Bartlesville where he was employed with Perkins Glass & Millwork and also Tatroe Glass Company until his employment with the U.S. Postal Service. He was employed with the postal service from the early 1950’s until his retirement in the early 1970’s. He then established Lloyd’s Tent & Awning which he operated until selling the business to Hays Tent & Awning in 1992. Mr. Basler then drove a school bus for the Bartlesville school system for nine years. Mr. Basler was married to Zelda Crowder on June 23, 1978 in Tulsa and they have made their home in Bartlesville since that time. He was a member of the Green Country Woodturner’s Association, a member and Past Master of the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 AF & AM and had been an active member of the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church for the past 15 years.
Mr. Basler is survived by his wife, Zelda Basler of Bartlesville, one son, Dan Basler of Bartlesville, one daughter, Mary Jo Radosevich and husband Paul of Decatur, Alabama, three step children, Carol Sonderegger of Tulsa, Monty Crowder of St. Louis, Missouri and Lesa Briner and husband Ed of Tulsa, two brothers, Robert Basler of Emporia, Kansas and Bill Basler of Decatur, Arkansas, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and an uncle, Loren Basler of Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
